One of the best places we stayed at. Staff went above and beyond making our family feel welcome and appreciated, they were exceptionally warm and friendly. Breakfast was great and room was very spacious and clean. One of the most notable stays on our trip.

Disappointment

I can only express an opinion on the treatment received during the booking phase, and it was decidedly DISAPPOINTING. I had identified availability for the Lucca Comics period at an absolutely reasonable price, in line with what was published on booking platforms, but magically at the time of booking everything was called into question and changed, since they hadn't noticed (the event confirmation dates having been released a few days earlier), with the price then resulting in being almost quadrupled; yes, you read that right, "4 TIMES AS MUCH." I was told that they would check the situation with the owner and that I would receive a response via email. No response ever arrived.
Behavior of this type is extremely unfair and completely undermines customer trust. Justifying what happened with a generic "change of management" communicated right at the moment of booking seems hardly credible and leaves the impression of an attempt to adjust the price exclusively based on the event.
A decidedly negative experience, especially due to the total lack of transparency and professionalism. Truly TERRIBLE

A warm and welcoming welcome at the foot of the walls of Lucca.

A beautiful experience staying three nights in Lucca for a conference. Comfortable rooms equipped with air conditioning, television, refrigerator, kettle, and safe in the cozy atmosphere of a Belle Époque house. The managers are very helpful, smiling, and enthusiastic, and they even said goodbye to us at departure with a small gift. Sweet and savory breakfast served in a charming room with a view of a section of the walls and the train station square. Very convenient for those arriving by train or bus and less than five minutes on foot from Piazza Napoleone, the vibrant heart of the city from which the main streets of one of the most beautiful historic centers in Italy unfold. In short, a pleasant point of reference during a visit to Lucca!

Excellent hotel! Will be a perfect base to visit Lucca And travel the region

Excellent Location for Every thing you want ! Hotel was immaculately clean !! Hosts were excellent and very helpful! One little complaint And it is a minor issue! Was the power of the shower ! Took a bit longer in there than I wanted! But Will not deter us from visiting again!! Thank you to all concerned

Perfect starting point for the Via Francigena!

The Hotel Rex was the starting point of our long-distance hike on the Via Francigena. The location is unbeatable: When arriving by train in Lucca, the hotel is located right next to the train station – brilliant if you are traveling with luggage. The actual city center and the entrance to the Via Francigena are also easily and quickly reachable on foot.
The hotel is run very personally. The rooms are rather small, but they exude a unique charm, making you feel very comfortable right away. The breakfast was extraordinarily good and plentiful by Italian standards. A big compliment to the staff – everyone was very attentive and extremely helpful.
An absolute recommendation for hikers and visitors to Lucca!
