The Parador is exquisite!
We chanced upon the Parador by searching Trip Advisor. We were searching for a spot between Barcelona and Madrid after walking a Camino, and landed on Cuenca and the Parador. It was a perfect
combination! This Parador is an historic monetary, beautifully restored into a fabulous hotel. (That’s what Paradors are famous for in Spain.). The room was amazing, the location was out of this world, and we were treated to a music festival featuring Carlos Núñez and Celtic Beethoven.

Sona was so warm and welcoming. Our dinner at this restaurant at the hotel was one of the most magical experiences for me and my daughter. Sona also took the time and care to strategize and organize our transportation to the train station to get to our next location.

Fantastic hotel in Cuenca, amazing location and the building is beautiful. A walk across the (very high) footbridge to the old town. Really enjoyed the stay

Very nice Parador with gorgeous views!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Parador de Cuenca. We had two rooms with beautiful views of the gorge, the "Hanging Houses" of Cuenca, and the old town. Our rooms and bathrooms were a good-size, very clean, and had good lighting. Bathrooms had double sinks and shower/tub combo. Rooms had great amenities, including robes/slippers, in-room safe, mini-fridge, complimentary water/tea/coffee, bath products, etc. The mattresses were a little hard for our comfort, but it wasn't too much of an issue. Some of the furniture is a bit worn. There was good storage/closet space, and the rooms' a/c worked well. There are a few "free" parking spaces outside the hotel (we were lucky to snag one.) Otherwise, there is a parking garage across the street for €25/night. It's a short walk into Cuenca old town via the San Pablo bridge...but the bridge is not for the faint-of-heart! It's a bit rickety, honestly, and if you're afraid of heights, you won't like crossing the bridge...needless to say we didn't linger on the bridge - ha! You can access old town via a taxi or car, too, but that will take a little longer. Front desk staff were courteous and helpful, but not overly so. Breakfast service was a little hit-or-miss (some of our order was forgotten,) but the food was fine. The fitness center isn't big but has what you might want, and there is a swimming pool across the street with limited hours. We recommend the Parador de Cuenca and would stay there again.

Good inn but with reservations.
Once again, we have returned to the Parador de Cuenca, a place that never ceases to captivate us with its beauty and the privileged environment in which it is located, suspended between history, stone, and landscape.
The room, although somewhat small, more than compensated for its size thanks to magnificent views, capable of turning any moment of rest into a special experience.
The reception staff attended to us with kindness and professionalism. On this occasion, we would like to especially highlight Ana, whose speed, efficiency, and attention positively marked our stay.
Regarding the gastronomy, the offer seemed somewhat limited, although correct. The service in the dining room was, however, impeccable: professional, attentive, and approachable. Sandra deserves special mention, as she not only recommended an exquisite cheese ice cream but also demonstrated great professionalism, always being attentive to our needs with warm and discreet care.
However, there is one aspect that, despite knowing it from previous visits, continues to catch our attention and, in our opinion, detracts from the overall experience: the new design of the dining room. The arrangement of tables for two aligned along the entire room, both for lunch and dinner, along with the use of small individual tablecloths, creates a feeling more akin to a functional restaurant or a transit hotel aimed at business travelers than to a Parador, whose essence should invite pause, enjoyment, and contemplation.
Paradores, due to their uniqueness and their close connection to historical and cultural heritage, should offer spaces that provide greater comfort, warmth, and personality to their clients.
Another aspect that has surprised us in our visits over the last few years is the disappearance of the tasting menu at lunch. While in many other Paradores this proposal continues to be a way to highlight local cuisine, in this establishment it has not been offered for at least four years now.
We believe that many clients miss this option. At a time when the network of Paradores promotes values linked to the territory, sustainability, and cultural richness, it seems especially important that gastronomy occupies the place it deserves. A tasting menu would allow for highlighting the products and flavors of a region as rich gastronomically as this one, further reinforcing the identity of the destination.
Therefore, we consider it desirable that the management of the Parador, or the company officials, review this issue to unify quality criteria in line with the brand's objectives. Valuing a Parador should not be limited solely to its artistic or architectural heritage; its gastronomy must also be an essential part of the experience.
We would like you to share this opinion with the rest of the Parador staff because your knowledge dignifies equal treatment.
