Couldn't be more helpful!
Really comfortable stay at Casa Mirita, Vicky and her family were super helpful and accommodating. There are three rooms available downstairs and Vicky and family live upstairs. Of the rooms, there is a double with en suite, a twin with shared bathroom and a single (tight double) with shared bathroom. You can use the fully equipped kitchen any time of day and there is also a lounge room with tourist information. Good wifi and hot water. You can come and go as you please and can put in or out with the family also as you like.
We had a few unexpected problems during our stay which Vicky went above and beyond to help us out, which you defiantly do not get everywhere. Also other guests had assistance booking onward travel arrangements.
The surrounding area is safe and friendly, it takes around 20-30 minutes to walk to the centre, a flat easy walk.
As far as noise, the kids in the school didn't seem that bad to us and it's only daytime noise when most people are out sight seeing. The dogs again didn't really bother us!
So if you're after something different from your normal hotel stay, this may be it!

Nice experience
Spent couple of days there. Vicky was helpful by giving us advices and called hostels for our next destination to help with our booking. Cooked with Mirita on one day, she is very nice. The room is a bit tiny. Bathroom is very clean.

Feels like home
Mirita and her family hosted us for 2 days. It was a pleasure to stay there, eat together with the family and feel like home. Rooms are clean and shower is hot. If I am ever going back, that is the place I want to stay again. Vicky was so nice, went with us to show us the museums and explain the history of the city. She even went together with us to the bus terminal to say goodbye

Great people, but with noise issues
My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights in early July. We liked the idea of a cheaper alternative for our stay, while at the same time getting a chance to better understand the local people and their culture. We agree with the reviews that shower praise on the friendliness and helpfulness of owners. We enjoyed their company and their help.
However, we feel that a couple issues need to be addressed:
The noise from the 3 dogs that reside on the premises can border on oppressive. The slightest movement, such as using the outside bathroom, can trigger several minutes of constant yapping from all 3. This can happen late at night, morning, or in the early afternoon.
Another issue is the noise from a classroom of very young students that is right next door to the property. We're talking about loud voices with singing which begins at 7:30am on Mon., Tues., Thurs., and Fri.
We knew that this home-stay would be rustic. But these issues were somewhat of a detriment to the enjoyment our stay. We feel that the owners should at least address the issue of the noisy dogs so that the peace and enjoyment of the property can be realized to its fullest.

Excelent!!!
Me and my girl friend spent 2 nights there and we were sad that we couldnt stay one more. Our idea was to stop in Cajamarca just one day and continue straight to Leymebemba and Chachapoyas. When we arrived we felt emideatly at home and part of the family. Mirita cooked very good, healthy and cheap. She could adjust the dishes as we liked it. Vicky was really nice. She works at the region tourist office so she has a lot of knoweledge about the area and everything. When we arrived she emideatly helped us to organize the rest of our trip and bought us all the bus tickets and tours. At some poit by coincidence we met her in the city and she continue with us and made us a guided tour to some nice spots, gave us the explanations, brought me to a cheese shop and hair dresser. We liked her so much that we wanted to change our tickets to Leimebamba for next morning but unfortunetly was to late for that and we had to leave. She brought us next early morning to the bus station snd she does this with everyone. The city of cajamarca is one of the nicest i have visited in Peru. Nice historic center. There are some nice sights outside too. Cumbemayo is besutifull and if you like to explore andclimbing on the rocks just spend one day there. Unfortunetly we couldnt vidited some other sights because we had to leave. If you go to Cajamarca dont think twice and stay at Casa mirita. They are really nice family, open, talkative and friendly. Vicky speaks english and we help you with everything. She is very passionate with tourism and her firstintention is to make people feel good and enjor her city to promote outside the region. We loved the city and the family!
