Nice stay with small weaknesses

We had an overall pleasant stay at the Hoada Campsite. Particularly noteworthy is the good location close to the C40 – this makes getting there uncomplicated and you can reach the reception quickly without having to accept long distances.
The staff were friendly, however, we occasionally felt more disturbing than really welcome. On the other hand, the personal service was positive: We were accompanied directly to our tented camp, which is within walking distance of the reception.
The location of our tent was ideal – despite the proximity to the main house, pool and pool bar, it was pleasantly quiet and there was no noise. The tent itself as well as the adjoining outdoor bathroom were clean and we liked it very much. Shade, however, was mainly present in the rocky area, where there was an integrated seating group – a nice retreat.
The pool is visually very appealing, but quite small. During our stay, it was occupied by a larger group (about 6 people), so you felt partly like an intruder and could not use it.
The pool bar has a great ambience – especially the big tree there is really impressive and creates a special atmosphere. Unfortunately, however, the bar was not always busy, so we had to ask at the reception when we could order drinks.
Another point that could be improved is the cleanliness in the pool area: Tables and chairs did not always look well-kept.
Overall, a beautiful place with a lot of potential, where there is still room for improvement, especially in terms of service and care.

One night enough

Nice shaded area for our tents. Three toilets and showers for the group of 18 was enough except for the one shower not working and no place to put your stuff in the bathroom as the water flows over the whole floor area. Lots of mice and rats in the bathroom and kitchen area, so no peace while making food or having a shower. A beautiful spot and bar with a view, just a shame for the mice.

Great camping in amazing location

Situated at the foot of Grootberg, the camping is well kept and beautifully planned. Every detail is thought through. Enjoyed it a lot!

Nice stay

On a previous visit to Hoada, we were allocated campsite No.3 which had enough shade during the day. This time round we were allocated campsite No.7 of which the kitchen area had no shade apart from a shade cloth roof. The sun beat us during the day from all sides as it moved and we had to improvise our own shade with our 3mx3m shade cloth and moved the cloth as the sun moved around the roof structure. Please close off the sides-east and west- as well as the front towards the granite rock with shade netting for shade. Otherwise we had an enjoyable time at Hoada.

Great experience

I would recommend this site if you love the outdoors and sharing your space with some friendly lizards. I enjoyed the pool and deck after a long day on the road and the friendly staff made us feel welcome and safe.
Don't miss this unique experience if you can and the next day we saw some giraffes crossing the road (and over the fences) not far from the camp.
