Fun Rooms with Young Children
Almost anywhere in the world I would pick a Fairmont hotel over a Moxy brand hotel but Banff is a very unique situation. First of all, Banff is the most expensive hotel market in all of Canada based on average year-round rates, and the double whammy is that Banff is also very seasonal with cheap prices in spring and autumn but very expensive in winter and summer. In addition, as far as I know this Moxy happens to be the most expensive Moxy in the entire world on average (more expensive than Santa Barbara or the two in NYC), and even more so, during high season. If they were aligned with the brand (bare bones), then it would not work for us, but thankfully they have some features which are full service. Also the rooms are definitely not bare bones. The entry level room is 24 sqm which is more than Fairmont Banff 18 sqm so if I expect no upgrade at all due to high season at either hotel then Moxy does not seem so bad in comparison despite being much cheaper than the iconic Fairmont. In addition, for family travel the Moxy rooms 2 queen beds are fun and ideal with young children because the beds face each other. Our youngest daughter loved going back and forth as she wished. It also makes the room seem more spacious than it really is due to the bed positioning.
At Fairmont we would have had lounge access as Accor Diamond and therefore breakfast every day. Normally Moxy does not give free breakfast to Bonvoy Ambassador Elite guests but thankfully they made an exception and gave us vouchers for breakfast which was a nice gesture.
Also between the welcome drinks and various drink vouchers plus daily Food & Beverage vouchers we had enough for 14 cocktails + 2 mocktails in 4 days so for happy hour at Moxy we had no food but plenty of drinks, whereas at Fairmont we normally have food but no (free) drinks in the Gold lounge.
Moxy costs a fraction of Fairmont so it's not entirely a fair comparison but based on what I have seen, no knock on Fairmont, but I was satisfied of the offering at Moxy and I would come back.

Great stay. Staff quickly resolved a noise issue and moved me to a quiet room.”
I recently stayed at Moxy Banff and had a positive experience overall.
During the night, there was a lot of noise coming from the room above us, which made it difficult to sleep. I first contacted the front desk, and they spoke to the guests upstairs, but unfortunately the noise continued.
They kindly told me that if the issue didn’t improve, I could let them know and they would find another solution. When the noise didn’t stop, I reached out again, and they immediately moved me to another room.
The new room was quiet and comfortable, and I was finally able to sleep well.
I really appreciate how professional, patient, and helpful the staff were throughout the situation. A big thank you to OM and Karl for their excellent service and support.
I would definitely recommend this hotel!

Outstanding Service and Hospitality!
We have stayed at Moxy Hotels in Italy, but this one in Banff, Canada was exceptional. The hotel facilities such as the pool and whirlpool made it feel more like a resort than a standard Moxy. Nightly entertainment was very good. That said, what made it 5 stars for us was the outstanding service and hospitality from the staff, especially Carl who was absolutely outstanding.

My family and I all absolutely loved the Moxy Banff! Beautiful, modern, full of fun. The large rooms and facilities were excellent. The pool area was lovely, particularly in the evening when it was lit up with neon lights and fire pits. Great gym, lovely bar area with games, great music and snacks! I celebrated my 50th birthday there and there were so many personal touches made to make me feel special that day. Big thanks to Lawrence for my birthday surprise and to all the lovely staff. This hotel is definitely up there as one of our favourite hotels we've ever stayed at as a family of 5. Highly recommend!

An amazing hotel in beautiful Banff!
My family and I all absolutely loved the Moxy Banff! Beautiful, modern, full of fun. The large rooms and facilities were excellent. The pool area was lovely, particularly in the evening when it was lit up with neon lights and fire pits. Great gym, lovely bar area with games, great music and snacks! I celebrated my 50th birthday there and there were so many personal touches made to make me feel special that day. Big thanks to Lawrence for my birthday surprise and to all the lovely staff. This hotel is definitely up there as one of our favourite hotels we've ever stayed at as a family of 5. Highly recommend!
