Great value stay in central ubud

Very welcoming family compound.
We had 2 rooms, basement next to river and 1st floor. Both were clean, plenty of hot water and beds / bedding were adequate and comfortable.
For the price and considering the central location, this was great value

Batik workshop brilliant

I did the four hour batik course. It was absolutely brilliant. I’m so happy with the result. The teacher is very patient and I learnt a lot about the batik process. Next time I would like to do a 3 day workshop.

Be ready to adapt.

Twin bed. Basement floor. The stairs are pretty high so if you suffer from knee or leg pain, please be aware.
No aircond just fan that is painfully slow on maximum speed. Thankfully the weather cooled down slightly in the evening. No table in the room for you to place things, just an outdoor table for dining. Everyday we see worms crawling on the bathroom walls and many drain flies too. No idea where they came from, worms probably from tiny cracks on the walls or floor. Best bring your own shower cream/shampoo as they don't give any. Towels are old and although bed are clean, the pillow cases were smelly.
They do not clean your room so if you need clean towels or toilet paper, you have to look for them and ask for some.
Best thing about this if there is one, the location. Easy to get to main road and food eateries are literally 3 mins away.

Home away from home

Nirvana has been highly recommended and not without reason. It is located in the centre of Ubud but is very quiet. It is neat, traditional and well-maintained. The owners and employees very responsive to the needs of the guests. The place is appointed with great taste. The prices are reasonable at the least. And there are a couple of darling dogs to with. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again or recommend it.

Batik course

My daughter and I took the two hour Batik course, it was excellent. The tutor was brilliant, he was so patient and explained everything. It was a really enjoyable couple of hours. Having no artist talent whatsoever, with his help actually came away with two pieces of Batil art that we were both proud of.
