Room was clean and the lighting was great, several plugs in the cube as well as a comfy bed. The shower was hot and the staff was extraordinary! Even with a slight mishap from third party booking, the host at the front desk was more than kind and accommodating! Wonderful stay in Amsterdam, we were able to walk to everywhere we wanted to go including transit.

This hos(t)el was really convenient for us. It is right in the centre and behind the red light district. If you are interrailing I’d recommend this at the start of the trip as the small rooms are SMALL. We had this as stop 1 and were glad not to be staying more than 2 night/at the start of our trip.

No customer service

We were really looking forward to staying here, but unfortunately the experience was ruined by the customer service at check-in. Our issue started when we were told that the room shown and selected on the website isn’t necessarily the room you’ll get, as it all depends on availability. We had a simple question about the room we had booked, but the Spanish-speaking member of staff was dismissive, kept interrupting us, and his only solution was to tell us that if we weren’t happy, we could leave and get a refund.
We understand this is a hostel and weren’t expecting exceptional service, but we did expect our concerns to be listened to and treated with respect. We ended up leaving and booking another hotel. The refund was processed correctly, and the staff at check-out were lovely and professional.
I later emailed to explain our experience, but my complaint was completely ignored and I only received a reply about the refund calculation. Unfortunately, that shows up the level of customer service the establishment has.
Personally, I wouldn’t recommend this hostel. It might be fine for one night if you’re just passing through Amsterdam, but I wouldn’t choose to stay here again

- Space could be better. One cube can include two people but not 2 checkin bags. They'd be too congested.

Blank white zen

I’ve been living in Utrecht (nearby) and I come here for just a night of isolation. If you can’t deal with living in a white cube, the normal rooms aren’t for you. If you want to tune out, have a drink in the bar (bartenders are artists here) and have an evening with you (and a partner) devoid distractions and get a hot shower in the AM… you can’t really beat this place. I use it as a happy place
