Simply wonderful,
We absolutely loved our stay on Hydra,
Upper Nhydra rooms are wonderful, in so many respects. The location is very close to where the ferry pulls in up, very convenient. The view from the balcony is fab, great for watch all the comings and goings of people , boats donkeys and cats!
Our room was very comfortable, spotlessly clean and very pretty! Plenty of clean towels and toiletries. Beach towels were also provided. I would stay here again.
Breakfast was good in the cafe downstairs which was such a good place to watch everything going on.
Hydra itself is beautiful especially early in the morning before breakfast, The little streets are quiet apart from cats and the harbour is still buzzing with cargo being unloaded. Everything from water to washing machines.
The shops all sell lovely things, the people are super friendly . Good places to eat

Heaven on Earth...except for...
Heavenly view over the port, which was very quiet at night. Friendly owners, though not a traditional hotel with a clerk. Super clean and wonderful sheets and bed. Small room, but the view from bed is everything. Only negative is the sewer smell from bathroom...maybe can't be helped, but brutal. I try not to rate accommodations by their breakfasts, but theirs was huge and delicious.

Upper Hydra - a slice of heaven in heaven!
Upper Hydra is a slice of heaven! This was a solo trip so I wanted to be somewhere that had a nice buzz. Being above one of the cafés, and right in the port, was perfect.
I stayed in the deluxe double room with a sea view, and spent quite a bit of time on the little deck, watching people go by, and watching the sun go down.
The room was exactly as pictured: clean, bright, and spacious. The amenities were great; the woman who cleans was amazing! When I mentioned that I was leaving at 7:30 am the next day, she said that she would contact the café about packing a sandwich for me to take since I wasn’t going to be able to enjoy the complimentary breakfast. When I came back to my room that afternoon, I found a sandwich, a 1 L container of orange juice, a chocolate croissant, all packaged up with utensils and napkins in a carry paper bag.
The complimentary breakfast was at the Café Isalos below. I stayed for five nights, and walked around the port through all of the cafés in and around the harbour, so I became very familiar with the cafés that were busy, and the cafés that were quiet. Café Isalos was always busy! - a testament to the quality of the food and the service.
One of the things that I like best about the room was the doors out to the deck and the view. The door is operated on a hinge system, so it could be opened per normal, or tipped open from the top for the fresh air.

Magnificent location
The hotel is located above the Isalos restaurant. Superb location with a view of the port. The rooms are relatively small but extremely comfortable and clean. Nothing is missing for a great stay. Breakfasts are taken in the restaurant and are excellent. Excellent welcome. Go there quickly…

Superb!
We have just stayed here for two weeks, in a room with balcony overlooking the beautiful Port. Where to start? The restaurant and accommodation is run by a husband and wife team (Ifigenia and Ionnis) who have very high standards. It was an excellent choice for us with a bird’s eye view of everything that was going on in the port. The owners own the well established restaurant below, Isalos, where we had dined on previous visits, and this time we wanted to see what it would be like to stay right in the port itself.
Firstly, the accommodation is beautifully arranged, with the most wonderfully comfortable bed, Molton Brown toiletries in the bathroom, Guy Laroche bath robes, fluffy white towels replaced every day, and beach towels provided. All this and a balcony where you can watch the goings on as yachts and boats come and compete for moorings throughout the day. We loved sitting here for an aperitif to watch the sunset before venturing out for dinner. Our room was spotless and maintained by a very friendly girl (Dickie) who never stopped smiling and was full of useful information about Hydra.
Breakfast is served downstairs at Isalos, by a very professional team who take very good care of you. You can have anything you like on the menu, but our favourite was fresh orange juice, wonderful Greek yoghurt with fruit and honey, and gorgeous warm home baked croissants together with excellent coffee. We ate at the restaurant a few times in the evening. Happy hour there is from 7 to 9 and offers two drinks for the price of one. A great start to the evening.
We also took the opportunity to eat at the owners’ recently opened second restaurant named Little England. This has a high class menu at prices that would easily be double in UK. The food here is superb.
If you are looking for accommodation and do not want to be dealing with the many steps surrounding port, then we can recommend a stay here. We found all the staff, without exception, was friendly, professional, and made our stay all the more welcome. We were very sorry to leave so thank you, Ifigenia and Ionnis, we cannot wait to come back again soon.
