Epic dive trip for a party of 9
I organized a scuba diving trip to the Philippines from the US for a group of 9 dive buddies, and Bongo Bongo in Dauin was our second stop. I began planning our trip over a year in advance and sent inquiries to several dive shops/resorts in the area, and one of the reasons I ended up choosing Bongo Bongo was due to their helpfulness and responsiveness (especially from Anthony) to my inquiry and subsequent requests/questions. Throughout the planning process and our visit, they worked with me to make sure my group had everything we needed for an amazing experience. They arranged transfers for us that were timely and comfortable, the hotel and restaurant were very accommodating to our party size and requests, and the dive guides/crew were phenomenal. The location near the beach was perfect, and we spent most of our time between dives at the pool or restaurant. All the staff were warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived. They had our first couple of dive days framed out for us already and assigned dedicated dive guides to our party for the duration of our stay. They were very in tune to everyone's varied dive levels, gear, and interests. I highly recommend Bongo Bongo for stays in Dauin with or without diving, and I hope we will be lucky enough to return soon!

Top-Notch Diving, Incredible Rooms, and Unforgettable Vibes
We spent a week at Bongo Bongo Divers learning our PADI Open Water, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable and rewarding experiences of our trip.
We stayed in the newer private rooms, and to be honest, they were some of the best rooms we’ve ever had in this price range, modern, comfortable, clean, and stylish. A real bonus was the huge TV with free streaming services, which was perfect for relaxing after a day of diving.
Food was served in the laid-back common bar area, where staff would order from nearby local restaurants. A thoughtful and seamless service. Breakfast, coffee, and drinks were all very affordable, and the whole place had a friendly, chilled-out atmosphere.
The dive instructors were knowledgeable, relaxed, and genuinely friendly. They made the learning experience fun and supportive, and in the evenings, they’d often socialise with guests, creating a real sense of community. A special shout out to Steve, our instructor, who made the entire week relaxed, fun, and truly unforgettable. His calm approach and great sense of humour made learning feel effortless.
The dive centre also organises local dive trips, including to Apo Island, which is an absolute must if you’re in the area.
Bongo Bongo is more than just a dive shop, it’s a place that brings people together, and we left with skills, confidence, and memories that will last a lifetime. Absolutely recommended.

Great people, great diving
Came to Bongo Bongo divers as part of a group trip. 8 days of diving, both at Apo Island and close to shore. It’s a very well run dive operation with a great boat and excellent guides. I stayed at nearby Amigos but spend most of my time at Bongo Bongo enjoying time with my friends, drinks and the pool. As part of our package we booked breakfast. Several of us have dietary requirements which was no problem for the ladies in the kitchen. Overall everyone is very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Special shout out to Anthony and our guides Tado and Jong who found us so many special creatures on our muck dives.

Divers’ Paradise in Dauin
Perfect place to go diving and relax in a nice little “oasis”. Very welcoming staff members, a beautiful garden with a nice pool and some “chill-out” spots like the hammock hut, and a great coffee place. I really liked their concept of offering just drinks (including the best iced coffee-latte I had in the Philippines) and the possibility to get your food from a nearby restaurant and eat in the garden/coffee place area. There’s a nice place right next door offering delicious vegetarian, vegan, and glutenfree options as well as Yoga lessons (Anahaw Restaurant & Yoga Studio).
Rooms: I stayed in one of the new rooms and it was very spacious, comfortable beds, good shower, all great.
Diving: Great and professional team of Divemaster and Instructors, making diving safe and fun. The gear they offer is top quality and the dive boat is spacious. If you stay for various days, you get your own box with for the gear you rented from them and your “spot” where you can change/hang your things. The diving is amazing - if you love muck diving the shore and coastal dives are the best. I preferred the Apo Island daytrip with the beautiful reefs and great water visibility and biodiversity. Generally, I loved Bongo Bongo Divers’ concept of signing up for the dives you like on a board with 1-2 days of notice or even shorter for afternoon dives - easy and great flexibility.
I would definitely come back if I‘ll stay in this area again and can fully recommend this place, especially if you are traveling solo or as a couple or group that likes a more „social“ place to stay at for your dives. Small details that might be good to know about if you stay in one of the new rooms: There are (night) lights in the ceiling that cannot be switched off. Either you remove the card and have no AC (which can turn the room quite hot at some point in the night), or you accept that the lights keep shining. I had asked housekeeping about this, but apparently it is like this in all the new rooms and there was no way of completely switching them off except when the power-card is removed (the lights are like a dimmed night light at 4-6 spots in the ceiling). In addition, the soundproofing of the rooms towards the other rooms next door was not too well. If your neighbours talk loud or watch TV loudly it feels as if this is happening in your room. However, if this is the case after 10 PM there’s always the option to get up and kindly ask them to turn it down a notch ;-)

Beating the drum for fabulous Bongo Bongo
Staying and diving at Bongo Bongo was a highlight of a 3 week diving trip that included Tubbataha.
With legendary dive guide Tito, we saw more small critters in one dive than most people do in a lifetime! His amazing ability to find the tiniest of Frogfish, nudibranch and seahorse to name but a few of the treasures he spotted, made what from the outset looks like diving in an underwater desert, into a memorable game of hide and seek.
Staying at Bongo Bongo is a must. Buzzing with enthusiastic divers, dive guides and staff, everything was just right. Real and delicious coffee fresh fruit smoothies on site while a huge array of locally produced and prepared food was delivered promptly thus helping local businesses to succeed.
Magnus and Anthony run a fantastic show with laid back efficiency. Shelby and Luna are so much fun we’ve become out of the water buddies. After a fab days diving, relaxing with this crew over a beer or 10 is the icing on the cake. Stay the same you guys - a winning concept that won’t be bettered
