A sanctuary - THIS is how you want to do Berat!
The villa is well named, located away from the main Berat downtown. It is not practically walkable, but if you have a car, it's really perfect. Navigating Berat with a car is pure hell. It's already crowded. The streets are very tight, and traffic is a mini nightmare. If you have a car you're far better off staying here and using the brand new bridge (officially opened just weeks ago in April 2025!) and approaching Berat from the other side. This makes the Villa's placement PERFECT.
The grounds are charming. It feels like you are in a sanctuary. They have many fruit and vegetable plants that you will get to enjoy. Strawberries were delicious! They also have olives and their own olive oil. They have over a dozen chickens, so the eggs are super fresh. They trade with neighbors to have access to fresh cow's milk and butter. If organic / bio is your thing, Inva covers these needs beautifully.
The breakfast each morning was perfect for us. She completely understood our need to be gluten free. For us she prepared sliced cucumbers and tomatoes, drizzled with her olive oil, omelets from her chicken eggs, marmalades and preserves from her garden fruits, juices made from those fruits, cheeses from her aforementioned neighbors, a zucchini quiche, Turkish coffee, corn flour bread... we felt guilty that we could hardly put a dent in the breakfast spread.
The rooms were clean and tidy, if a bit small. She provides slippers for wear inside the villa which is a very appreciated option. The kitchen was well stocked and had basically everything you would need if you wanted to prepare / keep your own food.
This place is a sanctuary. Its aura is peaceful, loving, spiritual, and natural. It's like a personification of Inva. You will understand when you meet her.
Further, she has a font of knowledge on what to see and how to enjoy it in Berat. You really couldn't ask for a better guide for your stay here.
